Land of Waterfalls

Experience Sunndal- the Land of Waterfalls!
From steep mountains in Wild and Wonderful Sunndal, countless waterfalls are flowding down like cascading veils. The most known is Vinnufallet - the worlds 6th tallest waterfall - that has its headwaters in the Vinnu Glacier, with a total length about 860 meters in several steps. In the upper part of Sunndal, near the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park, you find the canyon Åmotan, where four rivers meet.

Vinnu Waterfall - the worlds 6th tallest waterfall!

The Vinnu Waterfall has its outspring from Vinnubreen glacier, which is Møre and Romsdals largest glacier, and cascades down the mountainside with a 860 meters drop in several steps. Vinnufossen can be experienced from a laybay on highway 70, just a few kilometers from Sunndalsøra towards Oppdal. To come closer to the foot of the waterfall, keep walking the path a few hundred meters further up the valley, and then follow a marked path up along the river in about 10 minutes.
